Brown argus - Aricia agestis
![]() |
Family: Lycaenidae Flight Time: April-October. Size: 22-28mm Altitude: 0-1700m |
![]() |
Taken in Grovely woods near Salisbury in Dorset, UK. Difficult to get enough depth of focus for the underwing and the far wing. This one turned out nicely though, standard 28-80mm macro used, a bit of luck perhaps ? Female Common blues, Polyommatus icarus can be very similar but usually have a little blue on the wings near the body. The Mountain argus Aricia artaxerxes is very similar, distributional information can be used though. |
