| The female of the species (above in Valais) is completely
black, where as the male has a light dusting of blue scales. A local species in the UK it is quite widespread throughout Europe, except
S. Spain where it is replaced by similar species, e.g. Lorquin's blue Cupido lorquinii. The photos below were taken at Martin down, a nature reserve in Dorset, rich in downland species, especially those of Lycaenidae. |
