Eastern festoon - Zerynthia cerisy
![]() |
Family: Papilionidae. Flight Time: March-July. Size: 52-62mm Altitude: 75-1000m |
This is a photo from a trip to SW Turkey a few years back. These festoons were one of the more common and accommodating species in the area, enabling me to get lots of nice shots. This one's a male, the females seem to come in many different forms, I was beginning to think they were perhaps a different species ! A big species this so a 28-80mm lens was easily powerful enough to get a very nice size picture.
