The Hermit - Chazara briseis
![]() |
Family: Satyridae. Flight Time: May - Oct. Size: 42-68mm Altitude 0-2000m (2500m in N Africa) |
| Notes: These relations of the Graylings were fairly common in the High Atlas, Morocco, but not very easy to photograph. They have a very characteristic white band across their forewings on the upperside which is visible in flight. The underside of the forewing has cream coloured markings which make it identifiable on the ground. In southern Europe there is a similar species which I've not seen yet. |
