Ringlet - Aphantopus hyperantus

Upperside

Family: Satyridae.

Flight Time: June-August.

Size: 40-48mm

Altitude: 0-1600m

This is a common Summer species in the UK. In flight they look much darker than the other UK Satyrids. The characteristic underwing ocelli give this species its name.

I actually used a flash for this one, rather changed the natural colours so I've adjusted the balance to get a genuine looking Ringlet.
