Peak white - Pontia callidice
![]() |
Family: Pieridae Flight Time: June - August Size: 42 - 52mm Altitude: 1500-3400m |
| A true Alpine species. In the Pyrenees they were flying around the summit of Mount Canigou, at 2900m. In Valais they were flying at high altitude and in some barren places. The scantier marked male (below left) was flying over the end of a glacier, no vegetation in sight! There is some similarity between this species and the Bath white, Pontia daplidice, but the habitat of the former is usually enough to identify it. | |
